One soldier from the American marines was killed in confrontations in al-Anbar governorate to the west of Baghdad today. A statement by the American army said that the soldier had a fatal hit in a battle while he was making what was described as operations to establish security and stability, giving no more details. Turkey's foreign minister Abdullah Gul expressed regret over the killing of the Turkish citizen Murad Yuji by the hands of his kidnappers. - First aggression against Iraq's christians: scores killed, wounded in explosions against five churches
A series of simultaneous explosions most of them in booby trapped cars, on Sunday hit five churches in Iraq, four of them are in Baghdad and one in al-Musil in an operation which resulted in killing and wounding scores of people, and the first of its kind targeting the Christian minosity in Iraq since its fall under the American occupation 15 months ago.
