Originally published

The Jordanian weekly al-Hadath has said that, according to Palestinian sources, the Jordanian leadership has adopted a new policy to link once again the Arab-Israeli negotiation tracks which were severed after the Palestinians and Jordan signed separately the Oslo and Wadi Araba agreements with Israel.

In its recent issue, al-Hadath said, quoting these Palestinian sources, that the Palestinian and Jordanian leaders approved a joint move to restore a united position by the Arab states bordering Israel through extending its invitation for a five-member meeting in Amman or Cairo, which is to prepared for immediately after the near meeting of the foreign ministers of Jordan, Egypt, Palestine in Amman.

The magazine expected that the said meeting which will be contacted for by Jordan will be convened before the Israeli elections in order to crystallize common Arab stances to deal with the possibilities of the forthcoming Israeli elections.

The sources unvieled that the Jordanian leadership has already started contact with Damascus to soften the relation between the Syrian and Palestinian leadership in a way conductive to inviting Arafat to Damascus.
