Syria will not yield to blackmail

Originally published

Syrian Chief of Staff Colonel Hekmat Al Shahaby stated that Syria is able to vanquish any aggression or attack carried out by Israel or its allies against Syria. He added that the threatening slogans and bluffing will not change Syria's stance.

He reiterated that Syria sticks to the legitimate peace as a strategic choice in the face of the obstacles created by the Israeli policies, which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu creates in an attempt to impose his own conditions in defiance of the requirements of a just peace.

Al Shahaby stressed the Syrian request for complete withdrawal from all occupied territories so that all the lands it lost in 1967 are restored. He said that any other stance in this issue is not acceptable, and that nobody can force Syria to adopt stances which do not suit its fixed principles.

He added that threatening slogans and bluffing in addition to blackmail and pressure by the Israeli leaders and its allies will not change Syria's principles and stances. The others should realize that the people and the armed forces of Syria are strong enough to vanquish any aggression against the Syrian territories by any enemy, he said.
