Sudanese opposition coalition convenes in Kampala

Originally published

The Sudanese Democratic National Alliance convened in Kampala yesterday to discuss all the peace initiatives for Sudan, especially the agreement that was ratified by the Sudanese government and the opposition Ummah Party under the chairmanship of El-Sadek El-Mahdi.

The meeting was convened one day before the meeting of Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, which aims at easing the conflict between them that led to boycotting the relations between the three countries five years ago.

The Sudanese - Ugandan meeting will be convened tonight through the mediation of Kenyan President Daniel arap Moi.

The opposition coalition was shocked when El-Sadek El-Mahdi reached a unilateral agreement with the government last month, as the Ummah Party depicted the agreement as an important step toward a comprehensive settlement in Sudan.
