El-Sadek El-Mahdi: The Sudanese system is not weak, and the opposition is not strong

Originally published

Former Sudanese prime minister and chief of the Sudanese opposition Ummah Party, El-Sadek El-Mahdi, said the opposition Democratic National Alliance no longer represents all the Sudanese opposition.

He added in a symposium held at El-Ahram Egyptian newspaper yesterday that the alliance was nothing but a temporary formula that was fulfilling the needs of the national work in a certain stage.

He added that every stage produces its proper requirements and that development may lead to restructuring the whole opposition and establishing an alternative formula for the alliance that might take the form of a wide front that includes all supporters of democracy and peace.

He added that the ruling system in Sudan is not that weak, and the opposition is not that strong as its structure is fragile and not a persuasive alternative accepted by a lot of people in Sudan.
