Libyan wants fast timetable for African union

Libya and Mali emphasized the importance of making haste in applying the timetable of the Syrte declaration, issued by the exceptional African summit hosted by Libya at the beginning of September, concerning establishing African unity.

This came in a joint statement in Tripoli yesterday at the concluding the visit of Alpha Oumar Konare, president of Mali, today to Tripoli, where he held discussions with Colonel Moammar Gaddafi, leader of the Libyan revolution.

The statement said the discussions of Colonel Gaddafi and President Konare tackled numerous causes on the regional, bilateral and international levels.
