Delay in trial for nine Americans accused of US raid on Libya

Originally published

The criminal court decided in its session yesterday to delay the trial of the nine Americans accused of launching the US air raids on the Libyan cities of Tripoli and Bani Ghazi in 1986 until its session on March 22 because the prosecution's decision to arrest the suspects or inform them of the session's date according to the law have not been implemented.

The delay also came as a result of the demand made by the lawyer defending the "general fronts"(Libya) so that a technical report could be presented regarding the value of losses in the establishments and the general trusteeship caused by the US to the Libyan republic.

Nour Seoud, the head of the court, said the delay was a necessity so that authorization for providing defense lawyers to the accused can be provided.

The general prosecution was asked to hasten all the medical and technical reports concerning the case.
