Libya criticizes the US
The Libyan official news agency, JANA, has strongly criticized the annual report prepared by the US State Department on human rights in the world, asserting that the US is the last one who has the right to talk about "human rights."
The US has repeatedly stated that Libya abuses human rights citing examples such as "Security forces arbitrarily arrest and detain citizens. By law the government may hold detainees incommunicado for unlimited periods."
At the conclusion of a commentary it published on Monday morning, JANA asked, "Who placed the US as protector to human rights while it during all its history never admitted a value for man, a fact manifested the exterminating the red Indians, enslaving the blacks and in dropping nuclear weapons over the Japanese cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima for the first time in the world?"
The Libyan agency concluded by saying that the US pursues a policy of siege, threatening people and imposing its conditions on people instead of resorting to the language of understanding and treatment on the grounds of mutual respect among the world's countries and people.
