Diplomatic sources: Israeli message to Syria

Israel Radio said that the Norwegian Foreign Minister Knut Vollebaek who arrived in Damascus on Tuesday is carrying a message from Israel in which Israel stressed its readiness to resume peace negotiations with Syria.

The sources added that Israeli Foreign Minister David Levy told the Norwegian minister that Israel is ready to resume peace negotiations with Syria at any time and without preconditions.

Dutch Foreign Minister Jozias van Aartsen was expected to arrive in Damascus carrying a similar message from Israel.
