The Kibbutz Artzi movement and the Golan

Originally published

The Kibbutz Artzi movement has prepared a plan to evacuate two settlements belonging to it in the Golan Heights if a peace agreement is reached with Syria.

The Israeli daily Haartez said on Tuesday that this plan was discussed in a secret meeting held on Sunday between the representatives of the Kibbutz Artzi movement and the representatives for the settlement department in the Jewish Agency. According to this plan, inhabitants of the two settlements will be taken to other two settlements in the Galilee.

The Kibbutz Artzi movement recently adopted a decision stressed that residential units in the Golan should not be an obstacle in the face of peace with Syria. Officials in the movement refused to comment on this news.
