Gaddafi postpones visit to Sudan to today
The Sudanese presidency said on Thursday night that Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gaddafi has postponed his visit to Sudan, due on Thursday, until today.
A source at the Sudanese presidency told the AFP that Gaddafi will arrive in Khartoum today in the afternoon for a two-day visit.
It was announced earlier that Gaddafi sent a message to Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, telling him that he will not be able to visit Sudan and that he will postpone his visit to a later date, despite the fact that some 480 of his escorts arrived in Khartoum from Libya on Wednesday night on board three planes to prepare for Gaddafi's visit, following his return from South Africa.
But in the afternoon, Gaddafi sent another message in which he said he would arrive in Khartoum on Friday afternoon. The source said that Gaddafi expectedly changed his mind after news on his visit to Sudan was circulated via the foreign media.
