Sudanese opposition refuses to hold discussions with the government
The Sudanese opposition Ummah party refused to participate in the national discussion between the government and opposition at the beginning of July.
The information official in the party, Salah Jalal, said he has not received an invitation and that the conference differs from that which was been agreed upon: convening a conference abroad that includes all opposition and government.
He added, "The new conference shows that the government has changed in its policy and that it is not serious in its works."
Regarding the meeting between chief of the opposition Democratic Unionist Party, Mohammed Othman El-Merghany, and Sudanese Vice President Ali Othman Taha, Jalal said, "El-Merghany did not inform the party either of what took place in the meeting or of convening the meeting," but he said he might have informed Ummah Party leader El-Sadek El-Mahdi personally of the result of the visit.
