Syrian defense minister meets with US air war team

Originally published

Syrian Deputy Commander in Chief, Deputy Premier and Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Mustafa Tlass on Wednesday received a delegation from the US air war Academy led by Col. Jones Allen, currently visiting Syria.

The meeting was attended by the US charge d'affairs at the US embassy in Damascus and the military attache.

Tlass talked about the "political conditions in the region and the deadlocked Middle East peace process as a result of Israel's stubbornness and its continued refusal to implement relevant UN resolutions, its repeated attempts to eliminate the Arabs, embarking on aggressions as a means to realize its expansionist schemes at the expense of the peoples of the region and in violating the region's security and stability."

He stressed that Syria wants peace and works for its realization of "a just and comprehensive peace based on international legitimacy resolutions, the land for peace formula and for ensuring security and stability for all the people of the region."

He then answered all questions posed by several members of the visiting delegation.
