Ethiopia threatens military act to settle border disputes with Eritrea

Originally published

Ethiopian Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin has appealed in a meeting held on Tuesday with diplomats accredited in Addis Ababa and representatives of international organizations for the international organizations to take an active and decisive position against Eritrea

He added that his country will give another chance to settling the border crisis by peaceful means following the failure of all regional and international initiatives since the beginning of the crisis in May 1998.

The Ethiopian minister stated that his country will use "an appropriate language in dealing with Eritrea." He threatened to decide the issue militarily if needed.

The Ethiopian minister said, "Everybody knows what we have been told repeatedly since the eruption of the border crisis between Addis Ababa and Asmara in that the Organization of African Unity will work to settle the crisis peacefully without resorting to war and it will receive support from all."
