Khartoum hosts African refugee conference

Originally published

The African refugees conference hosted by Sudan convened in Khartoum on Tuesday in collaboration with the Organization of African Unity and the chairman of the African refugees committee.

Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismael noted in a press conference held in Khartoum on Tuesday the importance of holding the conference in Khartoum, adding that the conference's significance stems from the fact that the number of African refugees is great in comparison to the number of world refugees.

He stated that organizing such a conference for African refugees or evacuees is a political demonstration reflecting Sudan's interest in African issues in particular and world humanitarian issues in general.
