More Sudanese refugees to neighboring countries
The number of Sudanese refugees who had been evacuated to neighboring countries as a result of the fighting taking place in southern Sudan with Sudanese rebels led by John Garang increased to 374,000 families who reside in eight neighboring countries, excluding Ethiopia.
In a statement the United Nations High Commission for Refugees condemned the forced replacement of Sudanese refugees by Garang's movement, stressing that thousands of those refugees suffer shortages of food-stuffs. The statement added that the rebels attacked the UNHCR in Hunko province in the north of Congo.
