New Turkish invasion into Iraq
On Monday Baghdad denounced the new Turkish invasion of North Iraq where Turkish troops continue their attacks against 400 to 500 of the Turkish Workers Party who fled from Syria last month and stationed in the area.
The Iraqi news Agency quoted spokesperson for the Iraqi foreign ministry as saying that "the government of Iraq strongly denounces the new Turkish military aggression and the violations of the Turkish armed forces to Iraq's sovereignty and its territorial integrity." The statement called upon the Turkish government to withdraw its "invading forces immediately from the Iraqi territories and to put an end to its aggressive practices which are in contradiction with international law and good neighborly relations."
The spokesman criticized the "double-standard" policy pursued by Turkey concerning the abnormal situation in Northern Iraq "in compliance with the US-British schemes."
However, while the Turkish military and civil authorities keep silence over the matter, the Turkish media said that the attack still continues with the participation of 20,000 troops supported by jet fighters and helicopters from Deyar Baker military base, Southern East of Turkey. The media added that the Turkish troops made an incursion of 20 to 30 Kilometres inside the Iraqi territories.
The military operation extended in ten areas from Zakhu which is the only border center between North Iraq and Turkey until the Iranian border in the East.
