Some 11 armed Kurds killed by Turkish forces in Northern Iraq

Some 11 Kurdish armed men were killed on Sunday in Southern east Turkey in operations carried out by the Turkish security forces inside the Iraqi territories.

The Turkish News TV "NTV" said casualties among the Turkish soldiers are not known yet. It added that the Turkish forces redeployed in Northern Iraq, backed by helicopters and warplanes which attacked positions where Kurdish fighters are expected to exist. The TV added no Turkish official statement was released about the military operations taking place in Northern Iraq.

The Turkish daily Hurriet said that some 25,000 Turkish soldiers are taking part in these operations.
