Israeli misinformation campaign against Egypt disclosed

Egyptian Foreign Minister Safwat al-Sharif has accused Israel of launching a disinformation campaign against Egypt with the purpose of creating unrest in the country.

Al-Sharif said in a statement to the London Radio BBC on Tuesday that there are several indications that stress an Israeli role in launching the campaign. He wondered about the reasons for putting the report of the Israeli prime minister's office regarding Coptic issues in Egypt on the Internet in a distorted way.

The Egyptian minister added that publication of exaggerated information about Egypt in US and British dailies and magazines is clear evidence of a plot against Egypt. "It appears that these plots have been uncovered."
