Israeli forces bomb Lebanese towns
Israeli occupation forces on Sunday bombed towns adjacent to the occupied south Lebanon border strip. Lebanese security reports said the bombardment covered Jemejme, Kherbet Soloum, Majdal Soloum, al-Sawan and al-Shoumareya areas. Also Jabal Abu Rashed in the Western Bekaa and Berkat Jabbour came under Israeli shelling, which started at dawn Sunday.
A number of houses in the town of Majdal Soloum were destroyed, the reports added.
In a statement released on Saturday evening, the Lebanese resistance said that one of its groups broke into the occupied border strip of south Lebanon and stayed for 48 hours in the area of the Israeli Rayhan Barraks, awaiting the arrival of its targets. The statement said that on Saturday evening, an Israeli armored patrol arrived at the ambush spot. The resistance-men attacked them with machine-guns and grenades. The clash lasted for 15 minutes.
The Israeli patrol was forced to call for reinforcements. A Lebanese resistance artillery unit targeted the reinforcements, inflicting casualties.
In the meantime, Israeli artillery attacked on Saturday evening Majdal Suloum, al-Qeseyeh valley, Khourbut Soloum, Faroun, al-Ghandouriyeh and al-Hamra farm areas. The bombardment caused fires in orchards and woods.
