Ferocious battles near Sudanese city of Juba

Originally published

Yasser Erffan, the spokesman of Sudanese People's Army Liberation headed by John Garang, announced that SPLA forces are engaging in fierce battles with the Sudanese Army in the city of Nengala near Juba, the largest city in southern Sudan.

Erffan said the SPLA and the Sudanese Army are fighting a very heated battle against each other inside Nengala, which is partly controlled by both sides.

He added that the SPLA killed 65 government forces in Nengala from noon Wednesday until dawn of last Thursday.

He said government forces are using thousands of students as human shields, stressing that those youths do not have enough training to take part in such fierce battles.
