European ambassadors neglect Egyptian businessmen's meetings

Originally published

Ambassadors of European countries backing Egypt's attitude in a product-dumping dispute with the European Union refused yesterday to attend the meeting of the Egyptian Businessmen's Assembly to discuss points of view toward the dumping issues raised against Egypt and thank them for their backing of Egypt in the issue.

The businessmen's assembly has directed a call to the ambassadors of Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, Belgium and Luxembourg, to discuss the European points of view toward the dumping issues over Egyptian cotton exports to Europe.

These countries refused to attend the meeting without even apologizing, which angered the Egyptian businessmen. They stated that one of the most important reasons behind embassies between countries is upgrading trade exchange and strengthening the mutual economy between countries.

On the other hand, some sources stated that the European countries' ambassadors coordinated between themselves to boycott the meetings, refusing to be designated as a supporting or non-supporting country. Moreover they decided that Austria is the spokesmen of the European group as its head in the current period.
