Resistance escalated against Israeli troops in south Lebanon
Lebanese resistance forces on Saturday attacked the Israeli position in Sujoud inside the occupied strip of south Lebanon. In a statement the resistance said that its forces used machine-gun fire and rockets in the attack, scoring direct hits.
Meanwhile, the resistance forces on Saturday afternoon continued operations against Israeli positions and patrols inside the occupied part of south Lebanon. In a statement, the resistance forces said their groups attacked the Israeli occupation positions in al-Hardoun and al-Radar. Several Israeli soldiers were killed or wounded and direct hits were achieved, according to the statement.
News reports from south Lebanon said Israeli bombardment coincided with intensive flights by Israeli jets in the airspace over several areas in south Lebanon.
Meanwhile, the Israeli helicopters carried out mopping-up operations in several areas in al-Tuffah district. Earlier in the day, the Israeli occupation forces renewed their attacks against areas adjacent to the occupied strip of south Lebanon, particularly the Western sector.
Lebanese security sources said the Israeli artillery stationed in al-Hardoun and Balat bombarded the towns of Majdal Zoun, Zibqin, the valleys of al- Rahrah, al-Mansouri, al-Nafkha, Marimu and Barachit. The bombardment was accompanied by heavy machine gun fire targeting the roads that lead to the western sector.
Israeli warplanes carried out mock raids at low altitude over the central and western sector, as well as the al-Nabatieh and al-Tuffah districts.
Further reports said that on Saturday the Lebanese resistance stated that one of its groups attacked an armored vehicle that was part of the pro-Israeli militia. The attack took place at the southern entrance of Barachit position. In a statement, the resistance said its men attacked the enemy vehicle using machine guns and rockets, and the attack resulted in several casualties.
Another resistance group simultaneously attacked the Barachit position using mortars, and the attack resulted in destroying certain fortifications in the enemy position.
