Fighting breaks out between warring factions in Somalia
More than 14 persons were killed and another 18 reported as wounded following renewed confrontations between two warring factions in Somalia during the few past days.
Local Somali dailies were quoted on Tuesday as saying that the most violent fighting took place between "al-Abghal" and "al-Mourasadis", which started on Saturday in Budbud village following a violation of a cease-fire accord. Two elements were also killed from the two said factions.
Another 12 were killed on Monday and Sunday.
Confrontations that took place between the two said factions, affiliated with al-Haweya tribe which constitutes the majority of the population in the central and southern parts of Somalia, on September 3 resulted in the deaths of 15 persons and 19 persons were wounded in the same area.
Fighting ceased following a ceasefire accord reached by leaders of the two factions. The leaders, who each accuse the other of violating the ceasefire, said the accord lasted for only nine days.
Meanwhile, leaders of the warring factions in the capital said they also intend to put an end to current battles in Makadishu within the few coming days. They held politicians responsible for the eruption of fighting in the country.
