Ethiopia informs Arab League of outcome of Aideed visit
Ethiopia informed the Arab League on the outcome of Somali leader Hussien Aideed's visit to Addis Ababa and on the talks he held with Ethiopian officials.
The Ethiopian foreign minister delivered a communique to Arab League Secretary-General Esmat Abdul Meguid, asserting that the disputes between Ethiopia and some Somali factions had ended and reviewing the coordination between the Arab League and Ethiopia.
Ambassador Konfit Songrass, who asked to meet with Abdul Meguid, confirmed that her country is backing up the Somali reconciliation efforts, adding that developing relations with the Arab League will benefit the national reconciliation in Somalia.
Arab League Assistant Secretary-General Ahmed Bin Hali told ArabicNews.com that Ethiopia has ended all misunderstandings with Somali factions and that confidence between these factions and an important country such as Ethiopia is important.
Bin Hali denied that there is an agreement between the Somali factions to hold a reconciliation conference, saying: "We are continuing communications for reconciling points of view."
