Arab League discusses Somali crisis
The Arab sevenfold committee concerned with the Somali crisis discussed yesterday methods of providing financial and political support for coordinating the efforts exerted by some regional countries like Eritrea, regional concerned organizations like the Organization of African Unity, the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the United Nations.
The Arab League's assistant secretary, Ahmed Bin Holi, said after the meeting, which included Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Djibouti, Yemen, Algeria and Sudan, we need to support these efforts and nominate the joint administration in the capital, Makadishu, now.
Bin Holi revealed the existence of political and financial obstacles hindering the implementation of the Cairo reconciliation agreement and that some Somali factions did not approve the terms of the Cairo agreement concerning distributing official posts.
He said the essential obstacles that were illuminated in the current efforts were directed at all the factions to consider Somalia and all its tribes to be one entity.
