SLA militiaman killed, two guerrillas wounded in south
A South Lebanon Army militiaman was killed and another wounded Thursday when guerrillas set off a roadside bomb near their patrol in south Lebanon, security sources said.
The Hizbullah guerrilla group issued a statement claiming responsibility for detonating the bomb on the Annan-Jezzine road in Israeli-occupied south Lebanon.
Jamil Iskandar , a militiaman from the SLA was killed and another member of the patrol was seriously wounded, the sources said.
Later Thursday, Hizbullah issued another statement claiming its fighters detonated a second roadside bomb in the central sector of the Israeli-occupied zone, causing "definite casualties" among members of an SLA patrol.
The Hizbullah claim, however, could not be confirmed, the sources said. A clash ensued between SLA gunners and Hizbullah fighters in which two Hizbullah guerrillas were wounded, they added.
Hizbullah also announced on Thursday that one of its fighters, Salim Ahmad, was killed Wednesday while attacking the border strip in the south.
