Limited appointments

Originally published

"Limited appointments" are likely to take place in local elections, with the support of the parliamentary majority of yesterday's constitutional council. The council, including the parliament's office and heads of the parliamentary committees, held a meeting at Nijmeh square to discuss the controversial issue of the appointment, voted by the cabinet last week.

While some MPs supported the appointment of all municipality council member and others stressed on the importance of free elections, the majority opted for "limited appointments," limited to big cities, villages of the displaced and the occupied zone.
