Murr speaks about the municipal and mayoral elections

Interior Minister Michel Murr spoke in a dialogue with the press yesterday about the new draft law for municipal and mayoral elections. Assuring that the elections will definitely take place on the 26th of April 1998, Murr said that one third of the municipal assembly members will be appointed.

He specified that it is the Ministry of Interior who has the final word about the procedure. Appointments will be total in the occupied areas of the South. Murr said that the election law will be studied and voted on during tomorrow's cabinet meeting.

In addition to that, Murr held a meeting with the country's governors, with the participation of the secretary general of the interior, to discuss these modifications of the election law.
