Leading Hizbullah figure survives assassination in Baalback
A leading figure in the Lebanese Hizbullah party survived an assassination attempt by a strong explosion in Baalback city, in the Bekaa, on late Friday night.
Hizbullah said that the explosions took place seconds after the official in the Hizbullah party left the place, where the bomb had been planted, noting the explosion did not result in casualties, accusing Israel of being behind this operation.
Israeli officials denied any Israeli military involvement in this event. Al-Jazeera satellite tv reported that the Hizbullah party withheld mentioning the name of the official who had left his car before the explosion, accompanied by his personal guard, after he parked his car near the house of Sheikh Muhammad Yazbek, the leading figure in the party. Baalback is described as one of the strongholds for the Hizbullah party.
