France seeks a Security Council resolution for Syrian cooperation

Originally published

French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy on Monday said his country "hopes the UN Security Council will issue a resolution that calls on Syria to fully cooperate with the international investigation into the assassination of Lebanese former Premier Rafiq Hariri."

"France wishes that the Security Council will reach a draft resolution," the French Foreign Minister added in a press conference, expressing hope that the international organization "will adopt this resolution."

Syrian Foreign Ministry's statement last Saturday, in response to the report, expressed Syria's regret that the report didn't refer to the Syrian cooperation with the international team.

"Syria was keen to meet the investigation team's demands in listening to Syrian witnesses, specifying the place of the investigation, and accepting to let the Syrian Foreign Ministry Advisor to attend the hearing sessions as a lawyer without any objection from the team," the statement had said.
