Egypt's Presidential spokesman Soliaman Awwad asserted that President Hosni Mubarak's visit to Saudi Arabia on Monday and his talks with King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz were part of constant consultations between the two leaders.

He said that the two Arab leaders tackled conditions in the Arab region, including developments on the Syrian, Lebanese and Palestinian arenas, as well as the outcome of Sunday's meeting in Jeddah on Iraq.

The spokesman said Mubarak and Abdullah also discussed relations between the two states.

Awwad, whose statements came on the sidelines of Mubarak's visit to Saudi Arabia, said the two leaders affirmed keenness on stability of Syria and Lebanon and maintaining the historical relations between the two peoples.

The spokesman said the two leaders were aware of the size of pressures exercised against Syria.

The presidential spokesman underlined Egypt's stance on the importance of not prejudging the report of UN chief investigator Deltev Mehils who started a probe into murder of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri.

He said that Egypt expected the report to be independent, objective and impartial reflecting facts on the ground without politicization.

The spokesman said Egypt and Saudi Arabia were keen on maintaining stability of Lebanon and achieving reconciliation among all factions of the Lebanese people. He said that Egypt and Saudi Arabia would attend the international meeting which will be held in Beirut early in December to support Lebanon.

He added that consultations continued between Egypt and Saudi Arabia on dealing with the post-Israeli withdrawal from Gaza stage.

Awwad said the two states were keen on achieving calm in the Palestinian territories and supporting President Mahmoud Abbas. The spokesman stressed the importance of reconstructing Gaza and supporting reconstruction efforts in the strip to improve life of the Palestinian people.

Awwad said President Mubarak believed that the Palestinians should feel the pluses of peace and that their daily lives have changed after the Israeli pullout from the Gaza Strip.

On the situation in Iraq, he said Egypt and Saudi Arabia are deeply concerned at the deteriorating security in the Arab state. He said the Iraq issue was among the reasons that made President Mubarak call for an emergency Arab summit in July.

On Mubarak's visit to Saudi Arabia, Awwad said it is President Mubarak's first foreign visit since his new term of office.
