Originally published

Kuwaiti sources ruled out the extension of the oil donation offered by Kuwait to Jordan. this came out after amman had requested the Kuwaiti cabinet to extend this donation. if the donation is not extended it will be a great burden on jordan.

Nevertheless, official Jordanian sources said that the government seeks to prevent the occurrence of a new increase of oil byproducts prices.

On the other hand, the economist mazin marji said that the recent kuwaiti oil donation was sold to a foreign company and that Jordan seeks to make arrangements in case this donation is not extended in order to ensure its oil requirements.

He explained that the saudi donation to Jordan is continuous until may 2005, at least, while the donation from the United Arab Emirates is still ongoing. Marji indicated that Iraq might return back to providing oil donations to Jordan.
