Middle East Churches' message to UN chief to Annan

Originally published

Heads and Representatives of world churches, meeting in Cairo, called on the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to work hard to restore the role of the international organization to solve disputes and achieve peace in all world as well as support legitimate Arab rights. Secretary General of the Council of Middle East Churches Jirjis Saleh said the Council's call was incorporated in a joint letter sent by the Secretary Generals of the Councils in a meeting held recently in Kenya.

He added that the Secretary Generals demanded the UN Chief not to confine the international organization to mere issuing of statements on conflicts and other issues around the world but to exert intensive efforts to resolve those conflicts peacefully.
