AL official, Solana's press conference in Brussels about the wall

Deputy Arab League Secretary General, Nour Eddin Hashad, has stressed the importance of the unified European stance which rejects the Israeli racial separation wall in the occupied Arab territories.

In a joint press conference Friday with European Union's High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), Hashad said Europeans have to work to compel the Israeli government to respect the International Court of Justice opinion which considered the wall as illegal and called on Israel to remove it.

He stressed that commitment to the Beirut Arab peace initiative is the only way for solving the Arab-Israeli conflict expressing hope that the EU will push the peace initiative forward.

" Arab League will coordinate its efforts with the quartette committee," Hashad said.

For his part, Solana expressed support to efforts exerted by Arab peace initiative committee.

Solana indicated that he will visit Egypt next week to discuss means of strengthening the relations of cooperation between the EU and AL.
