Saudi police kill one wanted detain four
The Saudi security forces yesterday killed one wanted and injured other three when they refused to stop in their car at an inspection point in the eastern part of the country. One suspected man of having links to al-Qaida organization was detained following a chase of the security forces of two cars in al-Ihsa area to the east of Riyadh.
Saudi security sources said that a car manned by four persons broke into an inspection point and the security forces opened fire at it and killed one of the passengers and injured and detained the other three.
The killing and detention of those detainees came one day after gunmen opened fire at one American diplomatic car near the American consulate in Jeddah. No casualties were reported.
In December 2003, the Saudi authorities issued a list including 26 names of men wanted by justice over being suspected to be linked to al-Qaida organization and being behind the wave of bloody attacks in the kingdom since May 2003, that resulted in scores of killing or wounded.
The list of the wanted men has decreased to 10 after other persons in the list were killed, detained or surrendered.
