Al-Assad meet with Iraqi dignitaries

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad received Chairman of the Iraqi Legislation and Guidance Council Mahdi al-Sumaidaee and an accompanying delegation. Talks dealt with "the latest developments on the Iraqi arena, and the Iraqi people's suffering under the absence of security and stability."

Both sides stressed necessity for preserving Iraq's unity and restoring its sovereignty and independence.
