Lifting travel embargo for former Syrian minister
The Syrian authorities lifted the decision providing for seizing assets of each former minister of industry Issam al-Zaem and his assistant Barakat Shahin, one year after the two men were accused of granting a monetary guarantee at millions of Syrian Liras for a German company which rehabilitated a local textile factory in Syria.
The Syrian ministry of finance had demanded al-Zaeem to bring back 860 million Syrian pounds, the value of a guarantee he had issued, though it was not handed over to the "textile company and the German Bicco Tredden company."
Each of al-Zaem and Chahin said they received the decision to lift the seize from their assets and eradicating the decision to prevent their travel, a decision issued by the former prime minister Mustafa Miro, had issued few days before the end of his government.
The decision taken by the second infantry court in Damascus, Hatem Zeinab, states preventing trial and abrogating the decision of imposed banning travel on the two men, in addition to abrogating the decision taken by the ministry of finance to seize transferred and non- transferred assets of the two men and their wives. Worthy mentioning that the said assets were not cashed from the Syrian commercial bank.
