The call for dialogue to find a settlement to the Sahara dispute, launched by Moroccan King Mohammed VI in Tunis, was welcomed by Spanish foreign minister who described it as a "strong message."

Ana Maria Palacio who participated in Tunis in the first summit of west Mediterranean countries, known as the 5"5 Dialogue, also described as "important" the king's speech at the opening session of this summit, in which he called for dialogue to reach a settlement to this dispute while insisting on the fact that the Sahara is an integral part of Morocco.
