The Supreme Council Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq Sheikh Abdul Aziz al-Hakim and an accompanying delegation arrived in Damascus yesterday on a several-day visit to the country.

In an arrival statement, al-Hakim expressed in a statement to the press his appreciation over the principled and pan-Arab stances of Syria under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad.

"We appreciate Syria's keen interest to support the Iraqi people and her commitment to Iraq's independence and unity," he said.

"We strongly condemn the Israeli aggression on the Syrian lands, it is a violation of the international law and conventions as well as it undermines peace and security in the region," He added.
