A-Anbaa: Barazani underlines relations with Syria

Leader of the Kurdistani Democratic Party, Masoud al-Barazani has stressed that the Iraqi people appreciate Syria and the Syrian leadership, expressing hope over Syria's help to restore Iraq's sovereignty.

In an interview with Kuwaiti al-Anbaa newspaper issued in Kuwait yesterday, Barazani underlined the historical relations between the two states, Syria and Iraq, asserting the importance of the Syrian role in Iraq which is imposed by the good relations between the two "brotherly peoples."

He also stressed the importance of Iraq's unity and sovereignty asserting the Iraqi peoples adherence to their national, geographic and historical unity.

He pointed out that the process of reconstruction in Iraq should be done by the Iraqis themselves after the election of a national government.
