Algeria: assassination of the self- defense leader in al-Qabael area

The Algerian security forces said that armed Islamists assassinated yesterday the chairman of the self- defense group in Teizi Ozo province in al- Qabael area (110 Km to the east of the capital.)

The source said that the man was leading a group of "patriots" in Tikyojin village where he was killed in an ambush installed by an armed group while he heading in his car to the nearby Tiqzert city.

Members of al-Salafeyah group for call and fighting are active in al-Qabael area. This group says it only attacks security forces and government members.
