Mauritania holds presidential elections next November
The first round of presidential elections in Mauritania will be held on November 7, an official source announced. To date, no one has announced his candidacy to run for the top position. The local media has been speculating that former president Ouled Haidallah and leader of the Rally of democratic forces could be running for president.
The ruling Democratic Republican Party is scheduled to announce, in its upcoming extraordinary congress, the candidacy of present president, Mouaouyia Ould Sid Ahmed Taya.
Mauritania holds presidential elections every six years.
