Oil refinery starts replacement of leaked oil pipeline
Morocco's major oil-refinery "SAMIR" will start this week works for the replacement of part of its pipeline linking Sidi Kacem to Mohammedia, located in the town of Skhirat (south of Rabat) where an oil leakage was reported last November.
A follow-up committee set up following the oil leakage reported in Skhirate heard a presentation on the refinery's projected works at the Skhirat stretch of the pipeline. Works for the replacement of the 140 meter-long pipeline will be completed next Friday.
The company has further conceded to a German company the area cleaning and the control of the pipeline from Mohammedia to Sidi Kacem. The operation will start next January 20.
It was also announced during the commission meeting that operations to clean and collect oil residues that infiltrated water conveyance and disposal channels have allowed to collect about 1,400 tons of oil.
