Moroccan association holds solidarity rally with Palestinian people
Four hours for Palestine is the slogan chosen for a rally held in Casablanca on Sunday by a new association to call for protecting the Palestinian people against the extermination policy practiced by the Sharon-led Israeli government.
The rally, also designed as an information event on the tragic situation of the Palestinian people, ended up with the launching of a petition to UN high commissioner for human rights, Mary Robinson, requesting the constitution of a fact-finding commission to investigate the crimes against humanity perpetrated by Israeli premier Ariel Sharon.
The petition states that signatories, in their capacity as inhabitants of the globe, urge Mary Robinson to set up a fact-finding commission to investigate Sharon's participation in war crimes against humanity, in accordance with the Human Rights Universal Declaration, General Assembly resolutions 260, 2391 and 3074 and in the name of victims of the massacres of Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in 1982 when Sharon was defense minister.
The signatories say all evidence and documents to bring, before international justice, those responsible for war crimes are compiled and are available.
The rally sponsors have invited Palestine's ambassador in Morocco, Abu Marwane, Palestine's ambassador in Paris, Leila Chahid and other outstanding figures from western countries, including university teachers and Moroccan and Palestinian artists.
The Palestinian ambassador in Morocco underscored that in Morocco there is no need to call for solidarity with Palestinians, since all Moroccans have adopted the Palestinian cause as their own.
All the world governments should immediately stop the destruction of Palestinian infrastructure, which are vital for Palestinian continuity, warned European deputy, Luisa Morgantini from Italy while Moroccan writer, Admond Amrane El Maleh, said events in Palestine are a worry for everyone since the Israeli prime minister is adopting a terrorist logic. He called Israelis to give up their paranoia and their Zionism which destroys all human values.
Isabelle Avran, member of the French "Palestine-solidarity" association, underscored that Sharon's plan is to break the Palestinian people by imposing a blockade on Palestinian cities and destroying infrastructure that are vital for the survival of the Palestinian people.
