Khaddam warns against demonstration covering the Israeli aggression
The Syrian vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam has stressed in a TV interview that any diplomatic initiative that does not stem from implementing UN resolutions and guarantees the Arab rights and the Palestinian people, will not solve the problem and will by the ultimate end cover the Israeli aggression.
In an interview with the Abu Dhabi TV station on Friday, Khaddam added concerning the presence of the Syrian troops in Lebanon that these troops did not go to Lebanon for a picnic rather to extinguish the fire of civil war and at the request of the former Lebanese President Suleiman Franjiyah.
He continued that the question of the need for the Syrian forces in the Lebanese internal issues cannot be defined by Syria, rather by the Lebanese state. He stressed that Syria wants Lebanon to be a secure and progressing Arab state and this progress is in the interest of Syria, Lebanon and also for the interests of all the Arabs.
Khaddam said:" we do not want just to talk and debate slogans. But we do say if we are exposed to danger, we will efficiently defend our homeland."
