Masalha and relations between Israel and Qatar

Originally published

Israel' s deputy foreign minister Nawaf Masalha said that the Israeli trade representation office in Doha was closed at the request of the state of Qatar and it will not open it before the closing of the Islamic summit.

In an interview with the BBC on Tuesday, he added that there will be consultations with Qatar following the conclusion of the Islamic summit on the nature and future of relations between Israel and Qatar " if to sever them or not."

He said that Israel has closed the office because it does not want to embarrass Qatar in these circumstances when the Islamic summit and the Arab summit were convened and the current events now taking place in Israel and it ( Israel) left it for Qatar to take the final decision to close off the bureau in Doha.

He indicated that the resolutions of the Islamic summit in Doha leaves it up to the Arab states, at the proposal made by Egypt, Turkey and Jordan, to decide how to continue the relations with Israel "And we are waiting the decision of the ruler of Kuwait Sheikh Hamad and his foreign minister to this effect."
