African, Arab MPs assert palestinian rights over Jerusalem
Arab and African parliamentarians asserted in Amman (Jordan) Thursday Palestinian rights over Al-Quds (Jerusalem), insisting it was part of the Arab lands occupied by Israel in 1967.
According to Kuwaiti news agency KUNA, the MPs, in a statement at the end of an Afro-Arab parliamentary seminar in Amman, said they supported the Palestinian sovereignty over Jerusalem including the Islamic and Christian sites, as they supported it as the future capital of the Palestinian state. They said the Palestinian cause was the core issue in the Arab-Israeli conflict.
"There shall be no just or comprehensive peace in the middle east without the Palestinian sovereignty over the city of Jerusalem, the capital of the Palestinian state." The parliamentarians condemned the Israeli barbarous actions against the Palestinian people and said they were fully backing the unarmed Arabs against the Israeli war machine.
They called on the international community and sponsors of the peace process to protect the Palestinian people, urging the U.S. Congress to deal in a just and objective manner with the conflict in the Middle East. The lawmakers called for freezing ties with Israel and closing its commercial and cultural offices in some Arab and African countries. They urged for boycotting all countries moving their embassies from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
