U.S interference stops Israeli strike against Lebanon and Syria
Jordanian official sources in Amman revealed that Israel was intending to have a military operation against the Lebanese - Syrian front and that U.S communications held with the Israeli prime minister Ihud Barak stopped the plan.
The sources said yesterday that the Israeli anxiety toward Iraqi military moves toward the Jordanian - Syrian borders is baseless and aims at creating justifications for the Israeli prime minister to form an emergency government.
The informed sources said that "Barak had due to U.S interference to stop the plan to implement a military work against Lebanese - Syrian borders and that what was related to a high level political source concerning that Israel is concerned from Iraqi military movement toward the Syrian - Jordanian borders is a mere fabrication to create a temporary emergency condition due to external threats which do not exist."
