Al-Assad meets British MPs; support nuclear rights
Syria-UK, Politics, 3/26/2007
Syria's President Bashar al-Assad today underlined that all countries have the right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
Al-Assad made the remarks in a meeting with a Britain parliamentary delegation, headed by John Stanley, vice-chairman of the Foreign Relation Committee of the UK Parliament.
According to a statement, the Syrian president also explained his country's viewpoint on the developments in the region as well as the realization of security, stability, and reasonable peace and tranquillity in the Middle East.
Analysts evaluated al-Assad's remarks as an implicit protest of the Syrian government against the anti-Iran resolution.
The two sides held talks on regional and global issues as well as political developments in Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon.
